Guitar/Bass

Beginner:

We will be covering all the essentials to get you off to a fun and rewarding start on your musical journey.

What you will be learning:

  • Learning about Instrument parts, Guitars, amps, sounds and effects
  • Basic chords and strumming techniques
  • Beginner level scales, bass lines
  • Basic rhythm and basic solo playing
  • Warm-up exercises
  • Guitar knowledge
  • Notes on the fretboard and basic music theory
  • Learn popular songs and the song selection is also anchored around learning the music you like and enjoy
  • Guitar Tab and Music Notation where required
  • Grades available

More experienced players - Intermediate/advanced:

With my Tuition we can focus on targeting your 'Weaknesses' and enhancing your 'Strengths' to open up new areas of Playing and Creativity - whether it's Music Theory, Technique, Sight-Reading, playing with others, Repertoire or Ear-Training, we can work together and help you improve.

What you will be learning:

  • Rhythm and Lead Playing - Scales/Modes , being an accomplished rhythm player, improvisation
  • Chords
  • Fretboard understanding
  • Music Theory
  • Technique (Picking, String Bending, Vibrato, Fingerstyle, Muting, Tapping, Groove, Working with a metronome/ drum machine, dynamics in playing....etc)
  • Gear/Effects/Tone and live sound
  • 'Playing by ear' - working songs/ licks and music out by ear
  • Caged system
  • Grades avaialble

Keys/Piano

I love piano, and I love Keyboards too. I teach the instrument anchored around popular music styles so if you're looking to play Classical Piano, I'm not your guy! Here's typically what I cover with pianists and Keys students.

  • Learning about the Instrument, sounds and notes on the keyboard
  • Right Hand and Left Hand exercises
  • Chords and accompaniment
  • Melody and Rhythm
  • Scales and arpeggios
  • Popular song material - Pop, Rock, Blues, Instrumental solo piano
  • Playing by ear
  • Music Theory
  • Playing with other instruments

Groups

The most fun and rewarding sessions where students are able to apply the skills they have been learning by playing with other students.

Duos, Trios, Band groups

Guitarists, Drummers, Bass Guitarists, Keyboardists, Vocalists

A typical group session involves playing and learning with other Guitar students, Bass students, Drummers and Singers. We have a full professional Musical set-up with a PA system, mics, drum kit and Guitar amps.

Topics include:

  • Covering your favourite songs
  • Songwriting
  • Understanding live performance
  • Song arrangement
  • Improvisation
  • Performance prep for student concerts (optional)

An added bonus of Brackley Music is there are 'FREE' live music events where students get the opportunity to play live. Friends/Family are all welcome to come along to see students showcase their skills!
